Ranca is developing a resort, situated in Gorj County, Romania, situated at 1,600 m altitude, at the foot of the tip of the Massif Novaciului dolly in Parang Mountains, 18 km from the town on the road Novaci Transalpina (DN67C), a road which is upgraded and maintained until the state even during winter. In winter you can go only from Novaci Transalpina from being closed during the winter-Voineasa Obarsia Lotrului

Parang Mountains are part of the Southern Carpathians, group-Şureanu-Lotrului Parang Mountains, the largest mountain ranges in size from Romania. From east to west is approximately 50 km from north to south and about 25 km.
