Framed by the breathtaking backdrop of the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau, at the foot of the Eiger's north face, lies the lovely Grindelwald. The famous village of Wengen is located in the Bernese Oberland at an altitude of approx. 1,274 m, and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding 4,000-metre mountains. Since 1893, Wengen is accessible only by the Wengernalp railway from Lauterbrunnen. The village doesn't have a direct connection to the road network and is free from cars.
