Bangalore is the capital of Indian state of Karnataka. Bangalore is dubbed the Garden City. It is situated on the Deccan plateau in south-eastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore is the third most populous city in India, and in terms of congestion is the fifth.
Starting in 2009, Bangalore was included in the list of global cities and ranked as "Beta World City", with cities such as Geneva, Copenhagen, Boston, Cairo, Riyadh, Berlin, according to studies conducted by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and
Network in 2008.
Although earlier historical references about the city AD 900, a modern written history about the settlement existed only since 1537, when Kempe Gowda I, a vassal of the Vijayanagara Empire, built a mud fort cubes and settled province of the empire.
