Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. It has 48 km long, 21 km wide at its widest area. Located in southern Thailand, the west is the Andaman Sea coast and in southern province of Phang Nga is interconnected by a pair of road bridges.

Pe cea mai populara insula din sud se gasesc stanci de calcar, plaje cu nisip alb, golfuri linistite si paduri tropicale. In insula sunt numai doua sezoane: cel ploios (din mai pana in octombrie) si cel cald (noiembrie – aprilie).

Phuket is a large island but public transport is quite limited. Taxis and tuk tuks (small vans with six or seven seats modified to carry passengers) are the only practical means. Hotels generally offer, shuttle bus services in Phuket Town, and also taxis and rental car facilities. Jeeps and motorbikes can be rented from various shops in Phuket and the main beaches. Taxis are plentiful in the city.
