Queenstown is a tourist town on the South Island, Otago region in the south-west of New Zealand. It is built around an entrance called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu, a long, narrow lake in the form of Z-formed from a glacial process with spectacular views of nearby mountains.

William Gilbert Rees, together with his colleague, Nicholas Von Tunzelman explorer, were the first Europeans who settled in the area. Rees was in search of pasture, and after an initial visit in 1860 returned to the country and make a farm.

Queenstown city population reached 10,500 inhabitants in urban area and exceeds 20,000 inhabitants in the area of the district.

If you want to relax one day, you can walk through the market street that locals organized every weekend.

Summer routes you can try one day and Ben Lemmon Summit Moonlight Track or Track, or you can adventure on a trip a few days Routburn, or Keplar Milford Sound Track. All these tracks are worth the effort. In winter you can ski on the slopes at 20 min - 1 hour from the city (you can rent equipment in town). Ski season begins in late June with the Winter Festival ends in October.
